Success Coach / Advisor at Florida State University
2010 - July 2013In my position as an academic coach at Florida State University I built trusting relationships with a very diverse population of college students by delivering personalized, constructive, engaging, motivating and informative coaching sessions on a weekly or biweekly basis. The main goal was to empower students so they can maximize their potential in college and beyond. Every session I used problem solving and critical thinking skills to help students reach their goals. I strived to inspire each one to grow intellectually, professionally, and socially in order to develop skills to contribute to their success in present and future endeavors. I have also developed a great working relationship with over twenty departments at the university to maximize resources for my students at Florida State. In my position I served as a retention specialist for the university. Other skills I have honed in my time as an Academic Coach include public speaking, understanding of policy and procedures, and sales. I have presented at new student orientations and skill development workshops. Additionally, I have facilitated annual department trainings on techniques and methods for new employees. Lastly, a large part of my success has been strong salesmanship skills. From the start my students have to "buy in to" coaching and the vast benefits it offers. Week in and week out my priority is to empower them to believe in themselves and their abilities to achieve more than they thought possible.

Recruiting Assistant at Florida State University Football
April 2009 - August 2010As a Recruiting Assistant I was to create and distribute media to be sent out to high level recruits for Florida State's football program. When a recruit arrived on campus it was often my job to give him a tour of the facilities and the campus while answering any questions the recruits or their parents might have had. Basically, I sold the university to potential recruits. We had many football camps over the summer and I facilitated many aspects of them such as; camp promotion and marketing, registration, equipment fitting and monitoring skills drills such as the 40 yard dash. It was also my job to do anything any of the football coaches asked me to do. Many of the tasks took place in high pressure and fast paced environments, as is usually the case in a college level sports environment. I also coordinated FSU Football Alumni/Ex-NFL players reunions, meetings and functions.
